I love being on the road in spring, you never know what's around the next corner. I rounded a bend on the Madison River and saw this beautiful horse on a grassy hill with snow capped mountains in the background. Living in the Mountain West in Sun Valley is such a great way to explore and be a nature photographer here. This certainly captures the grandeur of the American West.

Always have a long lens handy, you never know what you might see
There are so many things to photograph in nature and the best is when they are unexpected. Like seeing Desert Bighorn Sheep in Zion National Park. As a professional nature photographer I'm always searching out different landscapes, even if I've been to that spot before. It's always special when you come across a heard of Desert Bighorns. This is one of my favorite images from this shoot.

Sun Valley Photography not always a scenic image
As a sun Valley Photographer most of what I shoot are scenics. But check
out this image from a trailhead around Sun Valley. Todd Kaplan
Photography is more than just scenics but I always shoot unique images
no matter where I am. I really like the abstract nature of this and the
new lock with the rusted gun shot holes in it. Spring is in the air and
there is no place as a photographer where I'd rather be than Sun Valley,
Idaho!
